Utah State Fair Photography Contest !

Imagine my surprise as I walked up the stairs at the Utah State Fair grand ball room building and start walking around and looking at the beautiful art work and come across my piece "Beam me up, Scotty!" and it has a 2nd place ribbon on it. The words did not come to me, I have never even placed in a art contest and to get 2nd place in the Advanced Armature Class (because I don't make most of my living as a pro).

What an exhausting day!

Yesterday started with waking up from taking my girls camping for the first time. Then moving onto my photo shoot with my nephew. Then a shoot with a work colleague and her fiance and his son.

I had a wonderful opportunity of having a photo shoot with my cousin, his wife and their adorable little Addie. She is turning one tomorrow and they wanted some family shots, and some of just her. I think they turned out great, here are just a few.

Bryce Canyon and Arches.

Earlier this month I had the opportunity to visit two of the most beautiful places in Utah and see some of the most unique places in the world. I did about 25 miles of hiking in the three days that I was out and was able to enjoy the quiet beauty that is known as Utah. Although at times I didn't make the right decisions (like playing with a baby rattle snake, see pic) or speeding in Arches, (yup got a ticket) ouch!!!! Along the way I was joined by my little brother and his girlfriend, we had a great time.

Calf Creek Falls. Pure water and peace!

After a long and enjoyable day in Page, AZ and 107 degrees outside, I headed north to Escalante and Calf Creek Falls. After yet another long night in my car, I woke up early for my hike. The hike consists of approximately 3 miles each way of sandy trail which really takes a toll on you a few days later when you feel like you need new calfs. I arrived at 7 AM early enough that everyone else was still asleep in the campground below. I had the best time just wading around the water with tripod and camera in hand taking all the pictures I could want and having a blast just enjoying the water come down and hearing the crows. I had nearly 4 hours of uninterrupted time to think, reflect and enjoy. It is definitely worth the hike.

Antelope Canyon ! What an experience!

If ever given the opportunity to pass through Page, AZ take the time and effort to see Antelope Canyon. On a wild hair I decided to drive to Page the night before and sleep in my car just to get there in time for my guided tour of the upper canyon. At special times of the day the sun shines through the canyon to the floor and creates these spectacular light rays.
